Project Possible Phase 03
After a well-deserved break from the mountains, the third and final phase began with only three out of the fourteen 8.000m peaks remaining. Cho Oyu and Manaslu were the first to be claimed, but a new challenge had been hanging over the project: a nail-biting wait for a permit from the China Tibet Mountaineering Association to climb the 14th and final peak, Shishapangma. The mountain was closed to all climbers for the season, but after weeks of negotiation, it was with great relief the team received news that the Chinese government had granted permission for the necessary paper work to be issued.
